Padma Vibhushan Awardee and Veteran Industrialist Ratan Tata Passes Away at 86

Prominent businessman Ratan Tata passed away at a Mumbai medical facility on Wednesday night. The former chairman of the Tata Group was 86 years old. Tata was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai on Monday due to age-related problems, as well as to manage his blood pressure.

Tributes flooded in from all over the nation after the passing of Tata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on his passing, describing him as a "visionary business leader, compassionate individual, and exceptional human being".

In a statement, the Congress said it “is deeply saddened by the passing of Padma Vibhushan Shri Ratan Tata, a titan of Indian industry and a philanthropist who shaped India’s corporate landscape.”

"It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation," said Mr Chandrasekaran.

"For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass," said Mr Chandrasekaran.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes, hailing the industrialist as " a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being".

Tata was also known for his quietude, humility, and solitary nature. He was also known for developing the world's cheapest car, the Nano, and donating almost 65% of his stock to charity.
