DECEMBERASIA BUSINESS OUTLOOK4 Carlos Ghosn, the former CEO of Nissan and Renault once said, "The time is right for electric cars- infact the time is critical", with the threats of global warming looming over our heads, carbon dioxide emissions increasing everyday with direct correlation to the increasing cars on streets, the health and ecological complications are becoming more and more visible with every passing day, to combat the increasing emissions, the electric vehicles were seen as the panacea. The evolution of battery technology grew hand in hand with automobiles, it wasn't long before vehicles operating purely out of electricity began to occupy the streets and have received good reception from all masses.Today Electric Vehicles have fewer running costs and are environment-friendly as they utilize minimum, or no fossil fuels compared to conventional vehicles. In the business years, EVs have gained prominence among the masses as they are more economical to operate, do not emit tailpipe emissions, and reduce oil dependency. According to a research, the top players in the electric vehicles companies are developing advanced technologies for the production of zero- and low-emission vehicles with improved fuel efficiency and soundless operations. Companies are also making huge investments in research and development (R&D) activities to introduce innovative and advanced product variants. They are investing in the improvement of the charging infrastructure, which will promote sustainable development. In addition, several players are expanding their production capacities to meet the growing global demand for EVs. With deteriorating climate conditions caused by high carbon emissions, adaptation and demand for electric vehicles have increased in recent years.Though we have a long way to go before becoming fully green, we can say that we are on the right track. The road to a sustainable future is difficult, nothing worth having comes easily, innovation takes us places no one has ever been, but traditional engine vehicles will continue to have a place on our streets for the time being.Emmanuel Christi DasManaging Editoreditor@asiabusinessoutlook.comIs the Epoch of Electric Vehicles upon us?EditorialVol 01 · Issue 2 - 1 · DECEMBER, 2022 Alok ChaturvediEmmanuel Chiristi Das Heena Kousar PublisherManaging Editor Asst.
