Being the land of many cultures and ethnicities, Malaysia has been one of the most sought-after countries to pursue a career in. Due to the massive career options the region offers, majority of fathers and mothers both aspire to be employed so that they can have a comfortable lifestyle for themselves. However, most of the parents are very skeptical and nervous in this regard due the necessity of someone taking care of their children when they are off to work. As a result, there have been a very sharp increase in demand for quality preschools and daycare centers in the country today.
While there are a huge number of preschools currently operating in the country, one preschool that stands a notch higher than the rest is Matrix International Early Years. Experiencing firsthand the critical gaps that existed in the schooling system, Dato’ Lee Tian Hock (Founding Chairman) incepted Matrix Global Schools in 2014 with a vision to set benchmarks in terms of educational design by building a school and create a conducive atmosphere for the young minds to have excellent learning and education. Today, Matrix Global Schools comprises of three divisions – International School, Private National School (Malaysian curriculum) and Early Years (Preschool) – all in the same campus.
Stand-out Factors
Headed by Adrinna Pierre, Matrix International Early Years has created a niche for itself in the industry today through its industry-best practices, excellent infrastructure, experienced faulty members and a very effective curriculum. For this, it has inculcated the International Primary Curriculum which is well-known among the preschool fraternity as one of the most effective tools to ignite a sense of curiosity among students and in turn help them develop necessary softskills such as cognitive ability, sociability, gross & fine motor skills, creativity, leadership skills and psychomotor development.
Following a thematic learning model that perfectly suitable for kids aged 3-6 years, the school has a one-of-its-kind early years program in place that enables the faculty members to identify every student’s strengths & weaknesses and accordingly guide them towards having a continued improvement. To do so, the school gathers information on every child through various sources such as self-assessments, parental & peer feedbacks and teachers’ opinions on various activities of the student.
Explaining further, Adrinna says, “Our meticulously developed curriculum provides guidance on choosing and using child assessments that are appropriate for children’s needs across all developmental domains. Our play-based curriculum approach strengthens the child’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional abilities. Also, students are taught to understand that the world is a much larger community in which they live and they have to practice acceptance and respect for other cultures and languages. We advocate acceptance instead of mere tolerance so that our children are fully immersed in diversity and are ‘color-blind’ yet deeply rooted in their own culture and social practices. The school weighs in heavily on being internationally minded through the celebrations and activities”.
Unique Approach to Child Care & Learning
Well aware of the importance of parents’ involvement in the child’s overall development, Early Years ensures to involve parents in every activity that the children take part in and even allows them to accompany their kids for the first week of their preschool. Additionally, the school also advises parents to participate actively in their kids’ learning journey and regularly invites them to forums where they can freely express their expectations and concerns. This way, this esteemed preschool is striving to create a positive experience to both its students and their parents.
“We follow a unique approach of ‘Everyone Caring’ and ‘Everyone Learning’, where we have placed the value of caring before learning because we believe that children who are properly cared for will be more willing to learn. In this regard, pastoral care is an important element in our school, wherein care is provided on a daily basis, from the moment the children enter school to the time they leave at the end of the day. The care is not just emotional care, but extends from cognitive to health, safety and overall developmental care for each child to reach their full potential and fully prepared mentally, physically and socially for the next phase of education in the primary school”, adds Adrinna.

Additionally, the school also offers a fully equipped hostel facility within the campus for its students aged 12-17 years.
“Keeping children’s safety, health and happiness as paramount, we ensure that our classrooms are always conducive, clean and safe. Our main goal is make sure Early Years is your children’s second home by providing them the comfort and creating the sense of belonging. Going forward, we aspire being the leading preschool in Malaysia by enhancing our curriculum and set new benchmarks in the industry.
