The inception of Abans Engineering goes back to the year 1994 as the Engineering Arm of Abans Group of Companies which has been operational in the business for over 50 years. The initial step of entering into building services engineering by setting up a Central AC Division was a brainchild of late Mr. P. N Pestonjee, the spouse of the chairperson of Abans Group Mrs. Aban Pestonnjee. Chinthake Kodippilikande, CEO, Abans Engineering
Chinthake Kodippilikande is an exemplary business leader, who brings more than two decades of industry expertise to the table. Chinthake started his career in 1998 as a technical assistant at Sri Lanka’s Research Institute, Industrial Technology Institute, while he was studying engineering at the Open University of Sri Lanka. Chinthake then considered a career in Marketing and joined the Abans Group of Companies in 1999 as a Sales Executive. Along the way, Chinthake completed CIM, the UK-based marketing exam, as well as perused a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
He led the advanced engineering marketing team at Abans for 13 years. In 2011, Chinthake left the company for his future prospects and joined Vallibel One Plc as the Head of Procurement, wherein he served the company for six years before he was called back at Abans Engineering to take up the CEO role in 2018. Over the years, Chinthake has worked his way up and is quite a journey on its own from a Sales Executive to steering the company as the CEO. As a CEO, Chinthake turned around LKR half a billion, loss-making entity when he took over, to a profit-making company with a 153 million LKR profit this year amidst challenges due to Covid 19.
