One of the oldest engineering specialties, mechanical engineering has produced a great deal of incredibly beneficial and forward-thinking innovations throughout the ages. Even today, mechanical engineering has a wide range of applications and is used in many different sectors, including the automotive, defense, and manufacturing industries. With the growing use of BIM (Building Information Modeling) in building development, planning, and management, MEP services are becoming more popular. Government, business, industrial and residential structures all require MEP Services. With more inclusion, MEP services are gaining popularity.
One of the well-known M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) engineering firms in Myanmar is EST Engineering. While EST undertakes some consulting work, the majority of its activity is as a contractor. Engineering Service Group began as EST in 2009, and the company was officially registered as an engineering company in 2013. The company EST Engineering is not a foreign joint venture. Some of the challenges faced by MEP firms are like dealing with design conflicts, which result in fabrication mistakes and revisions, duplication of labor, and greater costs, which is a perennial concern.
EST must use an interdisciplinary coordination approach that enables a review of MEP vs. Structural vs. Architectural elements to avoid such problems and conflicts. Sometimes the MEP component needs to be redesigned, and other times the architectural design needs to be altered. There are many MEP consultants and contractors in Myanmar, although some of the larger firms are foreign- based and are based in Singapore, Thailand or Japan, unlike EST Engineering, which is not a foreign joint venture firm. This differentiates EST from other firms.
Since the company completed the task for the customer and the client was pleased with the results, the client always recommends EST engineering for another job, and the company has a solid working relationship with the client when it approaches the client. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sanitary components make up MEP. Therefore, the EST has been performing all MEP work, including the installation of electrical and also ELV (Extra Low Voltage), air conditioning, and mechanical ventilation, fire alarm and fire fighting system, as well as some machinery installation.
But their specialty is the installation of Electrical and also ELV; these two are their special trades. Some of EST's clients include SPA Project Management, Bagan Business Group, BES (Myanmar), Serrano Holding Pte, MICT DC, Proviesys (Thailand), FPA (Myanmar), Myanmar Brewery, Ceylon Biscuit, Resource Group, Global Water Engineering (Hong Kong), Carnot Engineering, Natural World, Yoma Bank, Starcity (Thanlyin), VT Garment (Thailand), Suntac Engineering & Construction, KOSPA, Kinden Corp., TAC Solution (Korea), Marga Landmark Development and many more.
The development of a Better World through Engineering
EST has been offering a wide variety of services, including electrical installation, ELV (Extra Low Voltage) system installation, air conditioning, and mechanical ventilation system installation, plumbing and sanitary installation, and fire alarm and fire protection system installation. Therefore, the company tries to adhere to the international standard, international code of practice and as well as local authority standard (MNBC) for all installation work. The company adheres to the international standard whether it be the electrical installation, mechanical installation with international Code of Practice & Local MNBC Code. After a project is over, other companies typically charge clients for site visits or other services if they need to provide service, prolong a project, or anything similar. However, EST typically only charges very minimal fees or even goes for free”, says KHIN MAUNG THANT, managing director at EST.
Our goal is to aid in the growth of the country by utilizing management and engineering professionals with substantial domestic and international experience
Many clients wish to build one project, but they must consider a financial limit. However, they encounter financial difficulties or something similar, and their financial restriction is the same. So, if a customer wants to deploy $1 million but cannot afford to do so, they may be able to spend only US$900,000. To help them reach their financial goals and install to international standards, EST tries to assist them with some Value Engineering when they contact them because EST has an engineering team that is virtually entirely made up of locals, allowing them to make a design proposal using value engineering while still keeping their price within their budgetary constraints.
Therefore, the EST organization has been offering clients affordable options. Even though the majority of the projects EST worked on were successfully finished, the company did face significant difficulties throughout the years. EST currently employs more than 50 regular employees, and they are prepared to meet the needs and expectations of their clients. “As a leading and dedicated engineering firm in Myanmar, we aim to support the nation's development by employing management and engineering experts with extensive local and international experience in the upcoming future,” concludes Khin Maung.
Khin Maung Thant, Managing Director
The Government Technical Institute in Maubin, Myanmar, awarded Khin Maung Thant a diploma in electrical (electrical and communication) engineering in 1995. He also received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Distance Education in Yangon, Myanmar (2004). He has worked as an electrical design engineer in Myanmar for ten years between 1996 and 2007, project engineer in Singapore for five years between 2008 and 2012, and in Myanmar for nine years between 2013 and the present ( Managing Director ).
