Today, the success of an organization is largely dependent on building and maintaining a safe work environment that ensures employee safety above everything else. Among the various safety measures a company takes for its employees, personal protective equipment (PPE) is a must across a wide range of industries. Over the years, there has been a rising demand for quality safety equipment, especially after the pandemic highlighted how the usage of face masks saved millions of lives. Valued around $878.2 million, India has a vibrant safety equipment manufacturing industry. Among the leading safety equipment manufacturers in the country, one firm that stands out from the rest in terms of innovation, product quality, and client base is Venus Safety & Health.
Founded by Mahesh Kudav in 1986, Venus Safety & Health is a Navi Mumbai, India based leading manufacturer of high-quality safety products, including Respirators, Safety Eyewear, Safety Helmets, Noise protection devices, and Air filtration panels that caters to a wide range of segments in the industrial & medical sector. An ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 13485:2016 company, the firm leverages its consistent quest for innovation and has an extensive network of over 150 channel partners in India and global sales representatives in the UAE, Netherlands, the UK, and the U.S.
World-class Product for Effective Respiratory Protection
Venus has been at the forefront manufacturing of products with approvals of all leading countries including India, Europe, and the U.S. One of the first companies to receive an ISI license for its respirators & safety eyewear, the company has grown to have over 500 ISI, over 60 CE & over 40 NIOSH- approved products. Venus Safety & Health was also the first company in India to receive product approval for manufacturing NIOSH N95 respirators.
Previously, India had two product standards, namely industrial particulate respirators for industries and surgical masks for medical professionals in hospitals. Post the pandemic, Venus Safety & Health and its team have contributed to the BIS committee realizing the creation of two new product standards, namely the Medical Respirator standard to provide IN95 respirators to medical professionals and the new Barrier Protective Face Mask standard which is for daily consumers wanting a safety mask against road pollution. The Medical Respirator standard is poised to transform the medical respirator market for healthcare workers by mandating lightweight products with excellent bacterial filtration efficiency while providing high levels of protection against liquid aerosols.
The new Barrier Protective Face Mask standard will be available in various calibrated protection levels and breathing comfort ratings. These masks are tailored based on the user's lifestyle and can be personalized on various factors, such as age and facial structure. Additionally, the firm manufactures a variety of specialized products for emergency and rescue purposes that are ISI approved, such as self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA) for firefighters that offer exceptional respiratory protection against high temperatures and are highly reliable.
Being at the Forefront of the QCO
This year, the government of India has introduced the Quality Control Order (QCO), a regulatory tool to enforce quality standards for various products, including PPE. Venus Safety & Health sees it as a welcoming step towards enforcing product standards in India. "The introduction of the QCO is a welcome development, as it establishes essential product standards that will improve the overall quality of safety products sold in India. However, I believe that while QCO benefits raw materials, it should be implemented carefully. A hasty approach could adversely affect the quality of the final products", adds Mahesh Kudav, Founder & Managing Director, Venus Safety & Health.
Venus Safety & Health has consistently been at the forefront of the QCO implementation, obtaining approvals for all applicable standards in its product catalogues. Currently, the firm holds BIS approvals for around 14 product categories and is proud to be the first in the industry to achieve these certifications in many categories. In addition, the firm is currently working on establishing an in-house NABL-accredited laboratory.
Apart from that, Venus Safety & Health is also committed to enhancing the nutritional levels of its employees and fostering a better work-life balance. With a workforce of 75 percent women employees, the company has undertaken many initiatives such as transport facilities, and nutritious breakfast and lunch provisions for all its employees.
Venus Safety & Health has strategically prioritized safety and healthcare, adapting to meet both local and global consumer needs while maintaining its commitment to comfort and sustainability
