MyCaptain, a Bengaluru-based edtech startup, has secured $3 million in a Pre Series-A financing headed by Ankur Capital. IPV (Inflection Point Ventures), Firstport Ventures, IIM Calcutta Angels Network, Singapore Angel Investors, and others also participated in the round.
Through over 30+ Beginner to Advanced Live Cohort based courses, MyCaptain, an online mentoring platform co-founded by Mohammed Zeeshan, Sameer Ramesh, and Ruhan Naqash, has become a platform where students can learn directly from young professionals, discover new career options, and build practical skills.
Content writing, social media management, fashion design, business, and even advertising are among the topics covered in these classes. MyCaptain claims to have trained, mentored, and facilitated monetisable results for over 150,000 paying learners, including students from both big cities like Bangalore and rural areas like Guntur.
"We will use the money received to further extend our course offerings, recruit more customers, boost our income 4X, and expand our workforce," said Mohammad Zeeshan, CEO and co-founder of MyCaptain.
"There is a global movement to reinvent how work will be organised, particularly in the context of new-age occupations," said Rema Subramanian, co-founder and managing partner of Ankur Capital. There are around 1.1 billion on-demand gig-workers in the world, with India being one of the greatest in terms of scope and development of online freelancers."
"We feel that a platform that actively engages users over time to train and educate them in new age requirements has a huge possibility to expand and earn a lot of money. She went on to say that "the MyCaptain team's grasp of consumer pain areas and focus on delivering value to users sets them apart."
