According to local media, Bangladesh has officially entered the fifth-generation (5G) telecommunications era. As Prime Minister's counselor for Information and Communication Technology Affairs, Sajeeb Wazed Joy officially launched the service at a function here on Sunday.
Teletalk, the country's state-owned telecom operator, trialed the service at six locations.According to the Dhaka Tribune, the locations are Tungipara in Gopalganj, the National
Martyrs' Memorial in Savar, the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Prime Minister's Office, Dhanmondi-32, and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a great nation news agency, private operators are expected to bring 5G next year after the spectrum auction in March.
Marking the 5G Services launch, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended her heartfelt greetings to the countrymen for the launch in a video message screened at the function.
Emphasizing that the 5G Technology is launched through Teletalk Bangladesh Limited on a limited scale, Hasina said that the services would commercially be expanded all over the country soon.
According to the Dhaka Tribune, Joy, the chief guest at the event, stated that as long as the Awami League is in power, Bangladesh will progress in all areas. "We'll keep up with the rest of the world," he added. The fifth generation of technology for broadband cellular networks is known as 5G. In 2019, phone companies began to roll out 5G services around the world.
