Indian firm CDIL Semiconductors and Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific, a worldwide leader in power systems and IoT semiconductors, signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday to investigate strategic partnership prospects in India's rapidly expanding chip market. As the government emphasizes semiconductor self-sufficiency, this partnership aids India's objective of enhancing local manufacturing and decreasing reliance on imports. With this partnership, Infineon will provide CDIL with high-performance bare die wafers, which CDIL will then package into discrete and module semiconductor products designed for Indian clients, striving to enhance India's local capabilities and its position in the global supply chain. This partnership extends beyond expansion — it fosters innovation, speeds up 'Make in India,' and establishes India as a center for semiconductor excellence.
"Through this collaboration, we will be delivering cutting-edge power semiconductor products and solutions to customers that address the growing needs in e-mobility, renewable energy, and energy-efficient appliances in India," said Richard Kuncic, SVP and General Manager Power Systems at Infineon Technologies.
Infineon and CDIL will tackle essential semiconductor demands across multiple sectors, such as automotive and mobility, power semiconductors, renewable energy, and both industrial and consumer applications, they announced in a statement. It further establishes the groundwork for future advancements and more profound involvement in cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, addressing India's changing requirements in next-generation electronics.
