China's Apparel Exports To Singapore Triple In 4 Yrs; $2.45 Billion in 2022

China & Singapore are making efforts to upgrade their bilateral free trade agreement. Closer trade ties are supporting the textile trade between the two countries. China's apparel exports to Singapore have more than tripled in the last four years, reaching $2.454 billion in 2022. Officials from both countries recently held discussions and signed several agreements. 

China's apparel exports to Singapore have registered a constant increase in the last three years. The upward trend in trade remained intact last year as well. Exports registered a growth of 76.41 per cent in 2022, rising from $1.391 billion in 2021 to $2.454 billion in 2022, according to sources.

The data shows that exports defied the COVID impact during 2020, jumping to $1.037 billion from $690.146 million in 2019. However, trade remained weak during 2018 and 2019, easing to $730.031 million in 2018 and $690.146 million in 2019 from the shipment of $996.208 million in 2017. 

Singapore’s share in China’s total apparel exports of $166.146 billion in 2022 was just 1.48 per cent. However, China was the largest apparel supplier for Singapore, as per sources.
