China aspires for an early signing and implementation of the China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, as well as the expansion of green sector cooperation with Europe, including electric car collaboration, the Ministry of Commerce said.
"China and Europe are important economic and trade partners, with complementary advantages and mutual benefits in economic and trade cooperation. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Europe," He Yadong, a spokesman of the commerce ministry, said during a news conference in Beijing.
He said this after on February 14, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held a video conference with Ola Kallenius, the CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Group and president of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.
Wang reiterated China's support for the European Automobile sector during the video conference, and he expressed the hope that the two sides would work out their problems through discussion and consultation.
According to Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, China has been doing everything in its power to encourage communication and consultation. It is hoped that the European side would pay attention to the opinions of the industry and take concrete steps to advance the discussion and produce positive outcomes.
