World leaders will gather in Davos today to discuss pressing issues such as the Russia-Ukraine war, global inflation, climate change, and so on.
The meeting, themed 'Cooperation in a Fragmented World,' will conclude on January 20. More than 2,700 leaders from 130 countries, including 52 heads of state/government, will attend the 53rd annual meeting.
The WEF meeting is yet another important platform for global leaders to address the world's multiple crises. These crises have not only widened but also fragmented the geopolitical landscape.
"On a global and national level, we see multiple political, economic, and social forces causing increased fragmentation. To address the root causes of this trust erosion, we must strengthen cooperation between the government and business sectors, thereby creating the conditions for a strong and long-term recovery "Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, stated.
Leaders from all over the world will attend the World Economic Forum. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, South African President Cyril M Ramaphosa, Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, Swiss President Alain Berset, and Finland Prime Minister Sanna Marin are among them.
In addition, several Indian leaders, entrepreneurs, and young businessmen will attend the meeting. Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Mansukh Mandaviya, Smriti Irani, and R K Singh will attend the WEF meeting. State chief ministers Eknath Shinde, B S Bommai, and Yogi Adityanath will also attend the meeting.
