Genpact, a global IT major will establish a facility in Warangal, about 140 kilometers away.
According to an official release, Tiger Tyagarajan, CEO of Genpact, and his team met with Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao here on Thursday.
Rama Rao expressed his delight at Genpact's decision to locate their technology center in Warangal. He stated that this investment would significantly boost Warangal's IT sector.
"My thanks to CEO Tiger Tyagarajan and his team for their assistance in our efforts to strengthen IT in tier 2 towns," the minister said.
Tyagarajan was relieved to learn that Warangal is only an hour and a half away from their Pocharam campus.
According to the release, he also mentioned that Warangal has a very strong Academic ecosystem, with NIT Warangal and a plethora of tier-II engineering colleges, where they can find a lot of quality talent for his tech center.
Tyagarajan expressed hope that Warangal will develop into a major technology hub and that Genpact will begin operations with 100 employees very soon.
Genpact currently employs over 100,000 people worldwide, spread across many countries.
Tech Mahindra, Mindtree, and Cyient have already set up shop in Warangal. Genpact is the most recent addition to the list.
