Huawei Technologies Makes breakthrough With Production of 14nm Chips

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd has made advances in electronic design automation (EDA) tools for chips produced at and above 14-nanometer technology, according to a magazine, citing a speech by a senior Huawei executive.

According to Caijing, rotating chairman Xu Zhijun stated in a speech on February 28 that Huawei will complete testing on the tools this year. According to the report, Huawei has created 78 tools related to chip hardware and software.

Huawei did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

14nm chips were first used in smartphones in the mid-2010s and are two to three generations behind cutting-edge technology.
