The business circles of the Philippines and India added new ribs to their relations and economic ties with the recent hosting of the 7th India Business Roadshow in this city.
Successfully assembled by the India Embassy in Manila, a business forum took place in the Philippines in cooperation with the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (GSCCCII) and India Business Forum Philippines Association Inc. (IBF). The forum brought together significant leaders in commerce and industry from both nations.
“The idea behind the roadshows is to bring about a deeper connection between Indian businesses and businesses in the Philippines at the regional level,” said Harsh Kumar Jain, the ambassador of India to the Philippines.
The roadshow celebrated 75 years of diplomatic ties between India and the Philippines and highlighted business potential. A memorandum of understanding between GSCCCII and IBF, which formally committed both parties to bilateral trade cooperation, was also signed during the ceremony.
The roadshow took on a customised approach that was focused on specific areas such as infrastructure, agribusiness, healthcare and information technology-business process outsourcing (IT-BPO). It attracted 16 firms from India and over 50 local business stakeholders as part of the process of providing a platform for promoting cross-border cooperation and commerce.
The ambassador also said that General Santo City has been chosen as the strategic host of the roadshow because of its strong economy and presence of Indian investments.
