Indonesia will begin imposing anti-dumping duties on certain flat-rolled iron products from China, South Korea, and Taiwan starting next week, as outlined in a finance ministry regulation released on October 7. These duties, ranging from 4.4% to 7.9%, will be added on top of general import duties or other existing tariffs applied to these products. The duties will take effect from October 14, 2024, and will remain in place until 2029.
This decision follows an investigation that concluded the domestic industry had not fully recovered from losses incurred due to the continued dumping of flat-rolled products made of iron or non-alloy steel plated or coated with tin from these countries. The anti-dumping measures aim to protect the local industry from further damage caused by unfair pricing practices.
At least nine companies were named in the regulation, including five from China, which will be subject to the new tariffs. This move reflects Indonesia’s commitment to safeguarding its industries from the harmful effects of dumping practices.
