Casio Computer, a Japanese watchmaker, has teamed up with Polar Electro, a Finnish heart rate monitoring pioneer, for its latest fitness smartwatch, the two companies announced on Tuesday (Feb 28).
Casio debuted its first smartwatch in 2021, using Google's Wear operating system, and thus entered the wearables market dominated by Apple and Samsung.
Casio has announced that it will incorporate Polar's technology into its newest smartwatch. Polar stated that it would also make its algorithms available to other commercial partners.
The financial details were not disclosed.
"For years, we have seen a growing global interest from people wanting to better understand their own health and bodies," Casio's head of global marketing Takashi Uema said in a statement.
