According to Ninja Van's cross-border regional Vice President, Jeremy Hong, the e-commerce market in Malaysia is going to be massive in 2025, especially given the spurt in growth it experienced in 2023 and 2024. "Shifting consumer behavior brought on by the boom of social media and live-selling platforms during the post-COVID-19 era is part of this trend," he added.
At an event titled ‘Expanding Horizons, One Parcel at a Time,’ Ninja Van unveiled its e-guide, "From Malaysia to Southeast Asia: A Practical Guide for E-commerce Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) Expanding beyond Borders." This white paper, developed in collaboration with market research firm Milieu Insight, aims to support Malaysian businesses in navigating Southeast Asia’s vibrant e-commerce landscape. The guide is based on a survey conducted in November 2024, involving 1,200 shoppers from six Southeast Asian countries: Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Jeremy Hong presented to journalists how to move over cross-border e-commerce issues and unlock potential for growth in Southeast Asia while speaking during the event. Head of Cross Border, Ninja Van Denise Wong points out that the research reveals Malaysian firms lead the race with competitive edges on the e-commerce market regionally.
The survey identified the top cross-border shopping categories across these six countries as fashion and accessories (68 percent), health and beauty (46 percent), and food and beverages (27 percent).
