MADANI Digital Trade (MDT), an integrated virtual showcase created to improve Malaysian exporters' access to international markets, was introduced by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in collaboration with software developer Nazsoft Tech Sdn Bhd and with assistance from the Royal Malaysia Customs Department (RMCD).
In a statement released last Thursday, MATRADA stated that MDT provides trade-related business solutions, training, market access, market knowledge on grants, an e-marketplace, and business matching services.
Tengku Zafrul, Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), underlined the role that digital trade plays in propelling economic expansion and how it fits in with Malaysia's trade and digital economy strategies.
“Digital trade is a key enabler of Malaysia’s economic transformation, as outlined in the MADANI Economy Framework and MITI’s New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030,
“This initiative also supports Malaysia’s commitment to the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), positioning the country as a regional leader in digital trade. The MDT will enable our SMEs to expand market reach, enhance trade efficiency and accelerate digital adoption – ensuring Malaysia remains competitive in the global digital economy,” he said.
The statement claims that the Royal Malaysia Customs Department (RMCD) encourages MDT by providing its consumers with the option to use MDT to access RMCD's services.
In order to further enhance trade facilitation, including access to customs declaration for import, export, e-commerce, and regulatory compliance, this strategic alliance makes use of automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics.
