MBK Partners announced on Jan. 2 that it promoted Christie Hyosung Tang, executive director for legal affairs, to partner and vice president on Jan. 1.
Tang graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University and received a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University Law School in the United States in 2006. She worked for major law firms such as Milbank's New York office and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe's Hong Kong office, and worked as an international lawyer in the Seoul office of Covington & Burling before joining MBK Partners in 2017.
Tang has greatly contributed to the growth of MBK Partners into Asia's top-class independent private equity investment management company with the world's best legal, governance and risk management capabilities. As general counsel, she plays a pivotal role in all investment, recovery, fundraising and internal affairs of MBK Partners, as well as legal advice for portfolio companies.
MBK Partners founder and partner Chairman Michael ByungJu Kim said, "The promotion of Tang as partner and vice president means that her role as a legal officer in the increasingly sophisticated capital market has expanded and increased in importance." He added, "MBK Partners will firmly establish itself as a company that leads the Asian capital market not only in terms of expertise, depth and capacity of human capital, but also in terms of equality and inclusion.”
