Parag Agrawal studied computer science and engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and held a Ph.D. from Stanford University in California; he joined Twitter in 2011. By 2017, he had been appointed CTO.
As the firm's head of technology, he was in charge of machine learning and artificial intelligence and the company's overall technical strategy. Agrawal was also in charge of the company's "Bluesky" initiative, which aimed to create a more open and decentralized social media standard.
"I recognise that some of you know me well, some only a little, and some not at all," Agrawal wrote in an email to Twitter employees in San Francisco.
