Under the guidance of Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, Patanjali Ayurved initiated a gigantic food and herbal park at MIHAN in Nagpur, an event that shapes an important landmark in the food-processing industry in India.
The dignitaries present at the occasion were Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Swami Ramdev mentioned that this plant has the tremendous processing capacity of 800 tonnes of orange juice per day, the juice would be completely natural without any preservatives and additional sugar and also promote health among consumers while earning economic benefits for farmers.
"This plant will not only provide healthy, preservative-free products but will also open doors for enhancing farmers' income. We plan to use the orange peel to extract oil, increasing the plant's economic viability," said Ramdev. Built at a staggering cost of Rs 1500 crore, the facility is expected to be Asia's largest juice and food processing plant.
According to Acharya Balkrishna, Managing Director of Patanjali, the plant remains committed to sustainability since it will run on a zero-waste system. "We begin with orange peel processing, extracting volatile and fragrance oils, contributing to a circular economy," he added.
Apart from orange juice, the facility will also produce other varieties of juices out of lime, amlas, pomegranates, guava, grapes, and vegetable products, including gourd, carrot, and onion paste. Nitin Gadkari said that this could generate jobs and help revive the local economy. In a way, Nagpur would become a major center for food processing and export as per the vision of agriculture by the government.
