Pioneer, the Japanese car audio and entertainment system manufacturer, announced its intention to pursue partnerships with Indian automakers as part of its growth strategy. Historically, Pioneer has concentrated on the aftermarket sector in India, but the company is now shifting its focus towards original equipment manufacturing (OEM).
Pioneer India MD Aniket Kulkarni highlighted this strategic shift, noting that the company has not previously targeted the OEM market in India. However, moving forward, establishing a presence in this sector will be a key growth agenda for the company.
Kulkarni mentioned that Pioneer is already engaging in discussions with various automakers, although he did not disclose specific details. These discussions involve potential collaborations on products such as cameras, infotainment systems, and amplifiers, with the expectation that new products will soon be introduced to the market.
To enhance localization, Pioneer plans to collaborate with local contract manufacturers for production. In the initial phase, the company will focus on partnering with established players across different product categories, including dashcams, infotainment systems, and speakers. Pioneer Corporation, known as Pioneer, is a multinational corporation from Japan located in Tokyo, specializing in digital entertainment products. Nozomu Matsumoto established the company in Tokyo on January 1, 1938 as a store for repairing radios and speakers. Shiro Yahara currently holds the position of president.
