DOMO Chemicals, a top supplier of sustainable polyamide solutions, and Siemens Smart Infrastructure celebrated a major milestone in their collaborative endeavor to advance sustainable practices in the electrical sector. A new, high-performance TECHNYL® 4EARTH® polyamide 6 (PA6) material with enhanced flame-retardant technology and recycled content has been successfully developed and certified by DOMO Chemicals for use in Siemens applications.
This material will be used for the first time by Siemens in electrical safety products. Siemens will be able to manufacture the majority of the covers and housings for the Siemens SENTRON 5SV3 residual current circuit breakers (RCCB), type A/AC, using this innovative TECHNYL® 4EARTH® material, which was specifically created by DOMO Chemicals.
It will provide the same performance and quality as traditional materials, which is necessary for a safety product. In order to prevent electric shocks and fires, RCCBs improve electrical safety by promptly cutting power when they identify a current imbalance. Both commercial and household electrical installations require them.
Featuring glass reinforcement and 50% recycled content, including chemically recycled PA6 from various post-industrial and post-consumer sources like fibers and textile filaments, the material greatly lessens the manufacturing process's environmental impact without sacrificing quality or performance.
“We want to lead the industry with smart and sustainable technology,” said Andreas Matthé, CEO of Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure. “It’s our ‘new normal’ to deploy as much sustainable material as possible for each new product to support our customers in achieving both optimized operations and their environmental goals. We are delighted to promote circularity and responsible use of resources in the electrical and electronics industry together with our partner DOMO Chemicals”.
