The country has reaped significant benefits from the "China plus" policy, as large global businesses seek to diversify their supply chains in order to lessen their dependency on the Chinese market.

According to a joint statement, Trudeau promised Seoul support in its efforts to "achieve a denuclearized, peaceful, unified, and prosperous Korean Peninsula," as well as increased security cooperation.
"This support includes augmentation of Canada's naval presence and participation in multinational operations in the region," it stated.
The two countries, which already have "deeply rooted people-to-people ties," also announced a new programme that will provide Korean and Canadian young people with "increased work and travel opportunities" in the other.
Earlier, Trudeau told South Korean MPs that the globe was in a state of unparalleled uncertainty, with the COVID-19 pandemic still wreaking havoc, rising living costs, and the "real and terrifying" repercussions of climate change and conflict.
