The NDC stated that the government plans to allocate NT$12.5 billion (US$388 million) towards semiconductors, AI, defense technologies, security systems, and communications.
The NDC announced in a press release that it will collaborate with the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), and the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) to carry out the investment.
Reports indicate that the NDC acknowledged the Cabinet's endorsement of the "National Talent Competitiveness Enhancement Program" for recruiting and training 450,000 professionals in fields like artificial intelligence by 2028 and bringing in 120,000 overseas experts. The budget for the plan is calculated to be NT$5.2 billion.
The NDC announced that the government plans to make massive investments of trillions of dollars to rejuvenate public infrastructure. It is collaborating with relevant government departments to finalize the "Trillion-Dollar Investment National Development Program," which is currently under scrutiny by the Cabinet.
Moreover, the NDC announced that on September 30, the Cabinet was presented with the "Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Silicon Valley Promotion Plan" for approval. The aim is to turn northern Taiwan into a top technological corridor.
