According to travel insurance comparison data from Squaremouth, Thailand is now among the 15 most popular global travel spots for 2025, with insurance premiums 45% lower than the worldwide average of $219. Thailand's popularity as a travel destination rose by 12%, mirroring Sicily's tourism surge following its appearance in the second season of “The White Lotus,” which experienced a 32% rise in search interests.
Squaremouth indicates that journeys to Thailand are not only less expensive than those to other nations but also also tend to be longer.
Ned Tadic, Squaremouth’s Public Relations Manager, mentioned that the increase in popularity indicates a shift towards extended and more adventurous travel experiences, leading more travelers to pursue extensive coverage. The typical journey to Thailand lasts 25 days, which is 66% longer than the average international trip of 15 days. Moreover, the typical expense for a journey to Thailand is $3,275—41% less than the worldwide average of $5,617.
The longer trip durations have led to a rise in the need for travel insurance plans that cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and high-risk activities. Travel insurance for adventure and sports can also include coverage for activities such as scuba diving, surfing, motorcycling, and ziplining, giving reassurance to individuals pursuing more experiences.
