Tin Pei Ling, a Member of Parliament, has been appointed Director of Public Affairs and Policy at Grab Singapore.
In a statement, the tech titan confirmed her appointment.
“Pei Ling has deep on-ground understanding of digital economy and smart nation policy, and close ties with the local community. She will build partnerships and programmes to harness the positive potential of technology to create impact in Singapore," a spokesperson said.
Ms Tin, who began her new role in January, attended Grab's Chinese New Year appreciation lunch for driver- and delivery-partners on Wednesday.
Prior to joining Grab, she was the CEO of Business China, a Singapore non-profit organisation that fosters Singapore-China relations, since May 2018.
She shared a LinkedIn post about two months ago about her last day at the organisation, but according to her profile, she is still a board member.
Ms Tin was previously the group director of corporate strategy at Jing King Technology Group, which is now Adera Global. The company specialises in fintech solutions and smart technology. Before entering politics, she worked as a business and management consultant at Ernst & Young Advisory.
Ms Tin was elected to the People's Action Party in 2011 and is currently the MP for MacPherson SMC.
She also chairs the Government Parliamentary Committee for Communications and Information and is a member of the GPC for Culture, Community, and Youth.
She is well-known for advocating for issues affecting the elderly, youth, women, and the digital economy.
