Toyota is planning to introduce 15 zero emission automobiles in Europe next year. Out of which 6 will be Electric Vehicle (EV).
At an event in Brussels last week, to promote the new EVs Yoshihiro Nakata, president and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, said, "EVs are increasingly being accepted as a part of life in Europe.” He also added “These vehicles will contribute to Toyota’s decarbonization goals while also improving customer lifestyles," Toyota is expected to increase its sale in Europe to 20% from the current rate of 5% with the launch of its new EVs.
During the event three of the six EVs were highlighted. Among them were C-HR+,Urban Cruiser and New version of bZ4X.C-HR+ isa compact SUV with a 600 km driving range, Urban Cruiser is manufactured by Suzuki for Toyota, and bZ4X is Toyota’s first mass-market EV. Another significant model is Lexus RZ which is Toyota’s first premium car with a steer-by-wire system.
The automobile company follows a multi pathway which means it focuses not only on Electric Vehicle but on different types of vehicles. Last year, the company sold 139000 EVS which was 1.3% of its total car sold.
"We did not shift our entire focus to EVs like other players in Europe, so we've been able to make steady advancements without needing to panic," said Nakata.
