As consumer expectations regarding data privacy and security increase, businesses globally must build trust with customers during interactions – and Rich Communications Services (RCS) Business Messaging has surfaced as a means for brands to achieve this. In Singapore, Twilio’s 2024 Consumer Preferences report revealed that nearly 80% of consumers (79%) trust a brand’s communication more when it features a verification badge and almost 70% (68%) state that a branded text message enhances a brand's trustworthiness.
Twilio smartly enhances SMS messages to RCS on supported devices. RCS messages containing up to 160 UTF-8 characters are charged at the same rate as regular SMS, making it a cost-effective upgrade. Branded profiles can be created directly in the Twilio Console to start testing with selected devices right away. After the sender receives approval, it can be activated in the Console without requiring any code alterations, API integrations, or configuration changes.
Twilio handles the registration and onboarding with global carriers, performs capability assessments, and offers tools to guarantee message delivery via SMS when RCS is unavailable. Companies can utilize valuable data and insights on customer interaction, including RCS read receipts, through current Twilio dashboards.
