Vietnam and Bangladesh have agreed to investigate the possibility of signing a free trade agreement to strengthen bilateral trade and economic connections, particularly in light of the latter's graduation from LDC status in 2026.
Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Hung Viet led the second Foreign Office Consultations between the two nations on 14 May in Dhaka.
Momen advised Vietnamese enterprises and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Bangladesh, particularly in the economic zones, according to Bangladeshi media reports.
Momen advocated for Bangladesh's rapid inclusion as an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) sectoral discussion partner.
Bangladesh also recommended the formation of a joint panel at the level of foreign ministers.
