WTW, a global advisory and insurance firm, has appointed Simon Weaver of Australia as the inaugural leader of its newly formed Asia Pacific business division.
The announcement coincides with WTW's announcement that it has merged its 25+ offices across Oceania and Asia to form a powerhouse division that spans the entire Asia Pacific region.
WTW's Head of International, Pamela Thomson-Hall, stated that the merger will allow the company to "maintain its agility in an increasingly complex and fast-changing economy" and "help to unlock potential synergies across markets and increase operational efficiency."
Simon Weaver, who most recently served as Head of Australasia, has been tasked with leading the new, expanded wing. Weaver has been with WTW (formerly Willis Towers Watson) since 2015, first as Head of Singapore and South East Asia, then as Head of Corporate Risk & Broking in Asia and Australasia before taking on his current role.
“Simon’s leadership across Australasia has been inspirational amid volatile market conditions. I have utmost confidence that his client-first, strategic and forward-thinking approach will foster increased regional collaboration and strengthen the delivery of our client offerings as one Asia Pacific,” said Thomson-Hall.
"I am excited to be given the opportunity to lead the new Asia Pacific region," Weaver said of his new position. This combination will be critical in maximising WTW's ability to connect and collaborate while maintaining the distinctness of our business segments. I'm excited to be a part of a new phase of growth."
Prior to joining WTW, Weaver worked for JLT in Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Singapore, where he gained experience in risk management and insurance broking..
