Construction projects are highly structured endeavors. Whether the project consists of building a shopping mall or a single-dwelling residence, each project has many moving parts that must be precisely coordinated. During this stage, decisions should be based on adequate financing, competent economic evaluation, regulatory environment, and technological considerations. From designing to planning to schedule to the build itself, each phase is complicated and part of a more complex overarching process. Project managers work to ensure the completion of the same at ease.
Construction project management has a broad variety of skills and the ability to interface with a diverse range of people to lead the project from concept to build. Philippines-based Gridlines MGS Construction & Project Management (GMCPMI) is an example of one company leading with its effective Construction Project Management Services. GMCPMI started in the industry as a very small company. The CEO of the Company, Marcelina Supsup stands as one of the few women who oversee a construction project management company. Marcelina obtained her master’s degree in Engineering, majoring in Transportation from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand.
She later practiced her profession in the design of highways and expressways in Taipei, Taiwan. Upon returning to the Philippines, she worked in a construction firm in Manila for five years. Afterwards, she was hired as an exclusive construction project manager in Davao. After a few years, she returned to Manila to work as a project manager for a large developer in Alabang. With her many years in construction management, Marcelina realized the great demand for project management services.
She wasted no time to start flexing her entre- preneurial skills as well, founding Gridlines 1237 with her daughter Shamcey, who topped the licensure examinations for architects in 2011 and represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2011 pageant, and other top-notchers from the exam the same year. In 2016, Marcelina later renamed the company into Gridlines MGS Construction and Project Management. GMCPMI is a young company comprising of a small team of employees. At this stage, this has proven to be the strength of GMCPMI. This, however is only possible with having Marcelina as the CEO. Being a mother she has translated well to the project management industry. Even as the CEO, Marcelina has made it her priority to put much attention to every project, approaching each obstacle with much care and attention to detail, just like a mother does.
Additionally, GMCPMI has always been selective of its employees, only choosing the most qualified and skilled individuals to work on its projects. The company also encourages professional growth among employees, investing heavily on further training for the employees. “Last 2020, we passed the certification for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems. With this certification, the company made its resolve to always adhere to a standard stronger, ensuring that all the clients of the company are satisfied with the services of GMCPMI”, says Marcelina.
State-Of-The-Art Services
GMCPMI offers a complete range of project management services. These include Design Management, Procurement Management, Planning & Scheduling Management, Quality Assurance & Control, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying & Cost Management. “We maintain a good name in the Construction & Project Management Industry that guarantee Business Growth and Job Security by providing innovative solutions responsive to the changing need and expectation of the Construction Industry and Society as well”, adds Marcelina. It is a disservice to attempt to quantify the uniqueness of GMCPMI compared to other project management companies in the Philippines.
The company has always placed integrity as the most important aspect in delivering its services. Additionally, the company has always stuck with its clients despite the several obstacles it has faced in finishing the projects. While other companies may leave the project due to countless problems, and most of the time, they are justified in doing so, GMCPMI has always been more patient with the clients despite the obstacles, focusing on the solutions that will complete the project with the best results. As a result, GMCPMI has built a strong relationship with its clients.
A Portfolio Of Happy Clients
GMCPMI is proud for being involved in Anya Resort Tagaytay, a high-end hotel and resort project operational in 2017. It was one of the earlier projects of GMCPMI, and a great undertaking for the young company at the time. Additionally, GMCPMI is also proud to have recently finished Park Inn by Radisson in Bacolod City. GMCPMI has also been capable of doing large-scale projects. The best example from its portfolio is SM Mindpro Mall in Zamboanga City which opened last December 2020.
GMCPMI is now focused on growing a larger base of clients. Majority of the projects that the company has handled has been with the SM Development Corporation, including Glam Residences, Sands Residences, Lane Residences, Hill Residences, and Bloom Residences, all of which are large-scale residential projects. “Presently, we had just been awarded projects being handled by the partnership of P.A. Properties and Hankyu Hanshin for Idesia Homes Dasmariñas and Cabuyao”, adds Marcelina.
GMCPM offers a complete range including, Design Management, Procurement Management, Planning & Scheduling Management, Quality Assurance & Control, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying & Cost Management
Additionally, Marcelina is looking forward to using her experience in transportation engineering yet again. She is exploring opportunities in government projects related in transportations including highways, expressways, and airports. With the rate with which GMCPMI is growing, there is no telling how near in the future these goals will be realized.
