Singapore’s business-friendly landscape forms a conducive environment for emerging fields like entertainment and animation. With immense opportunities making way for rising talents to explore and reinvent the field, there are also some barriers for entry into the mainstream business. Although social media has enabled everyone to find a platform to showcase what they have to offer, there is also a challenge in finding suitable positions, necessitating information sharing to motivate aspiring creators to venture into the animation sector. Creating compelling and gripping content that aims to not only entertain the target audience but also to motivate animation creators and designers to contribute to the growth of the field is RABBITWARREN ANIMATION STUDIOS, based in Singapore.
RABBITWARREN World
Founded to revolutionize the animation world and creating something that has an impact at par with Disney, RABBITWARREN aims to create something that puts a new spin on commonly understood ideas and puts things into a new perspective. Although designing exemplary animation content can be a challenge and continues to stay dynamic, changing with the ever-changing market trends, the RABBITWARREN team believes that a strong foundation built on well-defined concepts and themes helps propel an artist’s vision. Identifying as a visionary venture that pushes the boundaries, the company has created unique projects like the Unconditionable (UCDNBL) Project, and the RABBITWARREN animation project.
“We don't simply see ourselves as just an animation company. We define ourselves as a ‘speculative vision studio’ because one of our purposes is to create opportunities to question the world through animation, to offer a ‘perspective’. Our earth is like a single spaceship, and we believe that contributing to a common consciousness is essential for us to coexist harmoniously on this shared vessel. This can be felt from our ‘Unconditionable Project’, which revolves around the idea of ‘probabilistic unconditionality-oriented’ or, recalling the concept of an 'unconditional heart’ and envisioning a transition towards a world of abundance and peace, free from conflict”, shares Jake Fumitaro Ohama, Creative Director, Founder & CEO.
The RABBITWARREN Channel forms a part of the UCDNBL Project. This animation project features three space skunks from the cosmos, who disguise themselves as magical Ninjas on Earth. This trio embarks on a grand space fantasy adventure wherein they travel around the world to accomplish their mission of saving the planet. Although this project is still in the experimental phase, the company’s approach to development focuses on creating a multi-faceted content portfolio. For instance, the company has already produced three illustrated books which are yet to be published for the RABBITWARREN World, and is also releasing some content and music on Youtube.
Scaling Productions
As a growing brand, RABBITWARREN expects to achieve unimaginable growth, surpassing 18 to 20 million subscribers by the end of 2024. With a wealth of experience, the company has been able to survive in the dynamic world of animation by virtue of its ability to be conscious to create something unique, which has never been done before. Something that can only be described as a truly original concept. Owning every piece of animation, every character, and music included in productions, RABBITWARREN is able to ensure authenticity, which keeps it one leg up compared to other animators at all times. Some of the firm’s short stories have been released through Sony’s Playstation as well due to their unique nature.
“We conduct our business cautiously, aiming to achieve the greatest impact at the lowest cost within the annual budget. We will also be concentrating on forming strategic partnerships and have already established great terms with several brands like Kitson, Louis Vuitton, and more in the past; which can be potential partners when we seek collaborations in the future. As we look towards global expansion, we will undoubtedly be seeking new business partners. Starting next year, we plan to gradually expand, keeping a close eye on global market trends”, adds Jake.
Expansion in the Future
“Our aim is to become a high-quality animation studio that meets our ideals in 10 years. Our dream is to become a studio like the next-generation Disney in the future, but if I were to put it in words, we aim to create next-generation content that blends ‘Pixar's business model scalability, Harry Potter's elaborate and meticulous style, and Pokemon's interactivity’. Ultimately, we aspire to build amusement parks in multiple locations around the world, which is one of our dreams”, further shares Ohama.
With 30 years of experience in researching and analyzing the Asian entertainment business, primarily in Japan, Ohama has a record of serving some exceptional content as a Creative Director. As part of crowd-pleasing events like the Tokyo Girls Collection which attracted over 60,000 attendees over two days, Ohama possesses insight into what pulls the audiences, a skill that he plans to leverage extensively in the creation of the RABBITWARREN World Amusement Park.
For the achievement of its goals, the company is currently focusing on curating content that garners at least forty to fifty million subscribers for its first phase of expansion. This achievement will be followed by a multi-channel expansion for the diverse set of content that the company has planned.
