In the recent years, India has witnessed many more people opening up about their mental health, reaching out for support, and offering support to those who may need it. At the same time, there is widespread social stigma against seeking help, worsened by the lack of access to expert providers. In corporate setups, the uncertainty of one’s health and finances, coupled with blurred work-life boundaries, has further affected employee mental health. According to the WHO, “For every US$ 1 put into scaled up treatment for common mental disorders, there is a return of US$ 4 in improved health and productivity.”
But looking beyond the financial aspects, organisations are also now recognising their responsibility to do right by their employees by introducing mental well-being as a core focus in their employee wellness programmes. A unique offering in this space has been made by Amaha, a mental health organisation based in Mumbai. Through their Employee Wellness Program (EWP), Amaha uses technology to deliver comprehensive mental healthcare services to corporates. Amaha’s EWP includes company-wide surveys, customised webinars, therapy and psychiatry sessions for employees, a self-care app with more than 500 self-help tools, a mental wellbeing support chatbot and much more.
