According to a report published by Research and Markets, the global legal services market is expected to reach a net value of 1311.63 Bn USD by the end of 2031. There is scope for the rapid development of the legal consulting market in Singapore which is a global hub. The way businesses are conducted has evolved with technology. COVID-19 saw more industries thinking out of the box to keep afloat and we also witnessed many possibilities for start-ups in the country.
However, budget or lack of it will always be a major pain point for clients. If for example, there is an amendment to the data privacy laws which will require a company to assess their data privacy policy and processes, such an assessment may not have initially been in the budget. The next question the client will usually ask is whether such an assessment is required and why the current policy/processes are not sufficient.
This is why Kishan Law Chambers believes in collaborating with the client as opposed to just being a legal services provider. It is important to Kishan Law Chambers to understand the client’s requirements and budget. It will work together with the client to see how Kishan Law Chambers can add value and provide a tailored solution for the client’s needs.
Compared to some, Kishan Law Chambers will be seen as a newer player in the Corporate Legal Consulting market. Traditionally and even now, the core work has always been litigation and dispute resolution, but it is because of the experience in litigation and dispute resolution that gives Kishan Law Chambers an edge. “We understand the consequences when a deal goes wrong so we address that possibility from the beginning. This will provide a more holistic view for our clients.
We will also be able to advise on employment law, insurance and other related litigation matters. Our target customers are the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). These potential clients usually would not have an in-house legal team. We will be a trusted partner to management since we also understand what it is like to be a MSME and wanting to succeed”, mentions Pratap Kishan, Founder, Kishan Law Chambers.
Service Excellence
Kishan Law Chambers offers various services ranging from simple corporate advisory work to the more complex mergers and acquisition work. It takes pride in finding effective solutions for clients at an affordable rate and ensuring that it works with them on a long-term basis to build a trusted and strong bond. Kishan Law Chambers believes there is no one-size fits all, but works with the client to tailor-make solutions for each
client based on their needs while keeping things cost effective. The first step to a good relationship is understanding the client’s needs and budget.
Kishan Law Chambers will first arrange a meeting with a prospective client to understand their needs and during the meeting with the corporate team it will also provide an overall rate based on the client’s needs and requirement. “Thereafter, we will liaise with the client to provide a quote for the work and once the client confirms our engagement by signing our letter of engagement that is the beginning of our work. We do not concern ourselves with the time spent on the work entrusted with us but we pride ourselves in ensuring that our work is to assist the client in finding an effective solution”, states the Founder.
The firm has a team consisting of both junior and senior lawyers and it also has good support staff. All the staff have been with the law firm for many years even when the Founder was working in his previous firms. The firm cherishes loyal staff who take pride in their work and everyone plays a crucial role in the firm’s growth and development. The founding member and director, Pratap Kishan, branched out on his own in 2003. In the last 20 years, the number of clients has grown and allowed Pratap to expand organically.
Future Endeavours
Kishan Law Chambers LLC strives to be a trusted and valued advisor to MSMEs who wish to grow its business both locally and overseas. It will liaise with overseas lawyers/consultants where necessary to allow the MSMEs to concentrate on the business. “As we continue to grow and emerge as a player in the Corporate Legal Consultant market, we are looking to bring in lawyers and build more bridges with other professional advisors, such as finance, tax and insurance advisors, so that we can further add value to the needs of our clients. We are looking to expand into the area of family offices as well”, concludes the Founder.
