The market for environmental consulting services was valued at $34,365.5 million in 2020 and is expected to grow to $50,974.7 million by 2028. Environmental consulting services include conducting environmental impact assessments, obtaining project approvals, and implementing environmental management plans. Awareness regarding environmental protection has become more prevalent than ever in the industries. Companies are hiring environmental consultants to prepare studies on present and future projects, as well as to assess their environmental impact.
They need to obtain permission from the relevant government authorities before establishing their plant in new sites, for which they must produce a report based on the circumstances of the land and the impact of the building and the plant on the surrounding environment. As a result, these businesses are increasingly hiring environmental consultants to conduct environmental impact assessments.
Moreover, environmental risks and sustainability are now treated as equal as financial risks and sustainability for the project financers to arrive to an investment decision of any project. Prakriti Consult is one such renowned environmental service provider in Nepal that was established in 2012 by industry veterans Dr. Madhav Giri, Sujesh Shrestha, and Neelam Sharma Rijalpursuant to the requirements of the Company Act of Nepal. The firm was founded with the goal of providing a wide range of environmental and engineering consulting services. Through its standing in the industry for over a decade, Prakriti has remained in the forefront in undertaking environmental assessments of various infrastructure and service oriented projects.
Similarly, it has also been the industry leader when it comes to consultancy related to the carbon project development or a sustainability project. Prakriti Consult is built over four cornerstones; the professional integrity that it maintains in all of the assignments that it is entrusted with, the time boundedness in completing the assignments, the commitment to protect client's interests, and, most importantly, ‘Relation Beyond Business’. “We adhere to the highest standards of competence, integrity, and quality assurance in all our assignments. We have sought a varied service portfolio to develop as a one-stop environmental solution for the environment-related products and services in an endeavor to become a leading environmental service provider”, emphasizes Neelam Sharma Rijal, Director.
Services at Par
Prakriti Consult is always striving for service diversity for company resilience, as it firmly believes that a single line of service for a business is often perilous. Thus, the firm offers services in four broad areas which include Environmental Assessment, Renewable Energy, Climate Projects Development, and Sustainability Projects. Prakriti Consult supports its clients' environmental compliance requirements for all types of
development activities and clearance required as per Nepal's environmental protection regulations. On the renewable energy front, the firm provides consultancy services in the areas of biodegradable, municipal, and anaerobic digestion of solid waste, as well as solar PV and solar pumping related projects.
Moreover, Prakriti Consult renders an added value in the development of climate change projects through a variety of services such as climate data analysis, climate modeling, vulnerability assessment, and climate project development. Specific to carbon project development, Prakriti Consult supports its clients through all stages of carbon project development; right from conceptualization to realization of carbon benefits. Finally, as part of the sustainability Projects, the firm assists its clients in conducting corporate greenhouse gas inventories and measures to integrate sustainability into enterprises as a component of contributing to corporate social responsibility. Self-accountability and responsible reporting, according to the firm, are critical for product and service marketability. With its knowledge, the firm assists its customers in structuring their position to contributetoward SDG 7, SDG 11, and SDG 13.
The Road Ahead
Prakriti Consult is driven by the purpose to nurture and harness the intellectual ability of a proficient team developing a professional working culture for the benefit of its clients. It envisions helping clients achieve their environmental commitments and enhance business opportunities in the domain of environment, renewable energy, and climate change. Having said that, going forward, the founding members at Prakriti Consult are adamant that the environmental consulting industry is here to stay and thrive but there remains a lot of untapped opportunities that are still unexplored which include but are not limited to water, agriculture, and forestry.
And since there is ample need for infrastructure to be developed in the region, projects for environmental consulting on the safeguarding domain will prevail, creating enormous prospects for organizations like Prakriti Consult, which has over the years carved a prominent name for itself in the industry.
