CES is considered the largest expo for advanced tech, It allows innovators to showcase and present their most cutting-edge tech, it’s the ideal ground for innovators and investors to come together to do business, and after the preceding two events which were faced with problematic circumstances, CES 2023 proceeded in full swing with all its brilliance. CES 2023 kicked off on January 5th and had 70% more attendance than the previous year. 3200 companies which include over 1000 startups featuring their finest and latest technologies.
The CES is known for showcasing out-of-the-box extreme gadgets, and this year was no different, from TVs to smart homes, you name it, and there were futuristic versions of them all. We will mention a few of the devices which caught our fancy. Some of them were straight out of a sci-fi movie; it just goes to show how the consumer tech landscape has been evolving at an astounding pace.
The Only Monitor a Gamer Will ever Need
The first one is the Samsung gaming monitor; this has a mind-boggling aspect ratio of 32:9 which Samsung claims is the first of its kind. This is a gaming QD OLED monitor with a beautifully curved screen with VR/AR support with 144Hz and with inbuilt Dolby Sound system. It is comparable to the best TV’s in the market. It has a glossy screen instead of the typical anti-glare coating. It also has Samsung’s gaming hub interface which allows the user to stream Xbox or any other cloud gaming services.
LG introduced the world’s first wireless OLED TV
Another amazing TV from LG, The unique thing about this TV is that it gets all the necessary data wirelessly and the only wire on the TV is the power cord, it gets the audio and video data from a small black box called the zero connect box by means of wireless transmission. The TV is a 97-inch OLED 4K and you can connect flash drives, and gaming consoles to the zero-connect box to enjoy a surreal gaming experience.
BMW introduces a new brand design Automobile
BMW in the previous year came up with an astonishing car which could change its colour with shades of black and white. This year they took it up a notch by giving it the capability of 32 colours, each panel could be independently changed. This is further equipped with a talking digital assistant and an AR windshield, though it is doubtful if any of them will make it into a production vehicle, it has set a bar for what future cars should have.
A Surprise that amazed us All
Sony producing a car was certainly a surprise. AFEELA is the name Sony plans on using for its electric automobile lineup, which it plans on manufacturing with Honda, it has partnered with various tech veterans like Qualcomm and Epic. It has a sleek design, simple and is equipped with 45 sensors and cameras to aid in self-driving. Sony promised a car and they delivered.
Lenevo's introduction of Dual Screen
Lenovo outdid themselves with their yoga tablets with their dual screen yogabook 9i, this laptop has a dual display, and common questions were “where is the keyboard?”, “Where is the touchpad?” The laptop is very versatile, the screens can simultaneously be used or one side of the screen can act as a haptic keyboard, this also comes equipped with a stylus. We will not know the full extent of its capabilities unless there is a production-quality device up for testing.
Codename: Project Leonardo
Project Leonardo is a handheld Playstation controller. Sony has come forward with third-party accessory providers to bring greater accessibility to gamers. This is an excellent modular controller with customizable buttons and docks. Its ease of customizability is truly remarkable. Sony has not given a date for when it is going to be released.
There were many more neat devices like the Withings U scan which can be attached to the toilet seat and can scan urine and give out detailed diagnosis via the app and there were concepts of flying cars and electric roller skates.

Though most of these gadgets are not friendly on the consumer wallets or most of them are even doubtful of making it to the mass market, at the end of the day it’s CES, and companies come to showcase their best and to give a glimpse of what will be in their future devices. Every year the CES never fails and this year too it was amazing, and it is certain that next year we will have more to see.
